Story Time will resume Tuesday, September 3 at 9:30 a.m. for fall with the theme

What Can I Dewey in the Library?

Children will learn how to use the Library, all the different classifications of books, all the information available at our library and how to find what you are looking for.
Tuesday, September 3 we will celebrate Grandparents Day reading books about grandparents and making a craft for grandparents. Also the children will be able to select the books that we will read the following week, September 10. We will also have snacks that week to celebrate the beginning of Story Time.
Story Time will be held every Tuesday morning from 9:30-10 a.m. from Sept. 3-Nov. 19.

The Library got some new books for the dog days of summer

We also got the children’s book Dog Man: For Whom the Ball Rolls by Dav Pilkey and the young adult book Sophia, Princess Among Beasts by James Patterson.

Summer Reading Program is almost here

This year’s theme is “A Universe of Stories” and will be focused on space and our solar system. Ages for the program are toddler to ten-years-old.
We are changing things up again this year by having five programs this summer but we will also have our mailboxes for all kids. So even if time and other activities keep your children from being able to attend the program’s they can still participate in the Summer Reading Program.
Program dates and times are Tuesdays, June 4, June 18, July 2, July 16 and July 30 from 9:30-11 a.m. I will set up a mailbox for children that sign up and will put activities in their mail boxes every two weeks on the weeks that we don’t have a program scheduled.

Rosenberg, Redemption by David Baldacci, Run Away by Harlan Coben, Someone Knows by Lisa Scottoline, Wild Card by Stuart Woods and Wolf Pack by C.J. Box.

New books for the new year

The Library recently purchase several new books including the children’s book Wimpy Kid Diaries: The Meltdown. Also, young adult books Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusak and Queen of the Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare. Books Sandwiched In resumes

Books Sandwiched In book club resumed in September. Members come and bring their lunch and discuss the books they are reading. Everyone is invited to come and talk about what they are reading and hear what books other members are reading. Books Sandwiched in meets the first Wednesday of the month. The next meeting will be Wednesday, October 3 from noon until 1 p.m. in the Community Room of the Library.

Chandler Public Library to host second Teen Program

To kick off National Teen Read Week, October 7-13, the Chandler Public Library will host a Teen Book Tasting event on Saturday, October 6 from 10-11 a.m. There will be donuts and refreshments, a book discussion and tasting of young adult books to see if we like them.
Those attending the event will have an opportunity to get a taste of a book which will be wrapped in paper by reading a paragraph from the book. If they like it, they can unwrap the book and check it out. There will be books from all ages and genres in the book tasting.

Story Time resumes for fall

Story Time resumed on Tuesday, Sept. 4, with the theme “What Can I Do @ the Library?” Children are learning about the different books and activities at the Library, about getting a Library card, how to choose the “just right” book, the different kinds of Libraries around the world and around the country. Some of the activities planned include making dry erase boards, make bookworms, learn poems and sing songs and more. Story time continues every Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. until Nov.20.
